The Alexan x Kyle Steed
We often remind ourselves that macarons are perfectly imperfect. Not a single batch the same or even a single shell. But it's this imperfection that keeps us challenged and hungry to make more to perfect our craft.
Upon receiving an order from Reed & Co. to create custom macarons for artist Kyle Steed's latest mural unveiling at THE Alexan (new downtown Dallas apartment complex), we immediately hit the internet to do our research. Come to find out, Kyle Steed is one of the most recognizable artists in Dallas.... famous for his Dallas City Mural and Oak Cliff Coffee mural.... Here we stood faced to design custom macarons that evoked a fraction of what one might feel when they see one of Steed's murals. When I came across the below quote by Kyle Steed from a Dallas News interview, I felt assured that so long as we put our best 'creative hats' forward, our macarons would stand the test (or so we hope).
"I'm drawn to the imperfections in my drawing process, because it resonates with our lives. Everything isn't clean and symmetrical," he says. "It doesn't look perfect; it's not meant to be."
